Located just 7km from Pyrgos is the beautiful Zacharo
( Zaharo ) region, situated right next to the coast. Here you will
find the perfect setting in which to simply unwind and soak up the
natural beauty and peace.
The main beach of Zacharo is amongst the best you will find anywhere
in Greece, and the thin sand and crystal blue waters make it a paradise,
especially during the summer months.
Zacharo is a perfect base from which to be based in the Peloponnese,
and there is easy access to all other parts of this region of Greece,
as well as access to the city of Athens. Zacharo is very close to
the unique and beautiful "Kaiafas Lake" district, which
is a place of immense beauty. |
Zacharo itself has a very organised infrastructure,
and you will find a wonderful selection of cafes, tavernas and restaurants
in the village. There are also some very interesting places to visit
in Zacharo, such as that of "Triphiliaki Pilos", where
three tombs were found during excavations in the early 1900s, with
one of the tombs belived to have belonged to Nestor, who was the
Homeric King.
The town of Zacharo is one that will bring moments of pure bliss
and happiness to all who visit it, and a place that will stay with
you in both your heart and mind for many years to come. It is extremely
popular with visitors from abroad, who have relocated to the town,
and who have been welcomed with open arms by the friendly and hospitable
locals, who so proudly call Zacharo their home. |
